The cleanroom is a controlled environment. There is a strict standard for the particles, temperature, and humidity. As we know, cleanrooms play an essential role in the production process. Therefore, keeping the cleanroom environment in line with production standards is critical. Youthtech is a professional cleanroom supply manufacturer in China since 2005. our products including all types of cleanrooms, cleanroom air filters, purification equipment, cleanroom furniture, clean room panels. In this post, we will share with you something about cleanroom certification.
Importance of cleanroom certification
A cleanroom is a highly purified area. We should manage temperature, air quality, and humidity strictly. The air in the cleanroom is filtered to remove other pollutants and dust particles. The cleanroom can protect the production process from contamination, including hard disk drives, silicon chips, microprocessors, and integrated circuits. The certification includes checking various parameters of the room, including static electricity, particles in the air, relative humidity, temperature, and pressure difference. The evaluation is to ensure that the space meets the required standards.
Cleanroom certification standards
To limit particulates and other environmental conditions in the air, the people design the cleanrooms that are certified to a specific level according to ISO 14644-1 or similar standards.
According to the standard, the room’s performance must meet or exceed ISO parameters to maintain compliance. Cleanroom Testing and certification involves checking whether the cleanroom is operating according to specific parameters and ISO classifications.
Usually, the cleanroom is certified after construction to ensure that according to the customer’s specifications. Then the room will be retested regularly (every year or every six months) to ensure that the quality has not changed during the operation. The standards for cleanroom testing are ISO14644-1, ISO 144644-2, and ISO 14644-3.
Cleanroom operation testing company conducts the certification. These companies design the precision and calibration equipment needed to perform cleanroom performance testing (CPT).
Cleanroom certification testing procedure and environment
The testing procedure includes several evaluations. Some are required, while others are not obligatory.
The certification should include the occupancy status of the test room: completed, this is the initial empty facility, static status: all production equipment is in operation, but no personnel are present or operating the room, which is in full process. It is also common to test and prove that the cleanroom has been refurbished or has a contamination incident. The choice of which tests to perform depends on many variables, mainly standard requirements, audit agency or client requirements, or client preferences.
Primary cleanroom tests
- Airflow volume / Velocity Readings.
- HEPA Filter Integrity Testing.
- Test HEPA filters and system for leakage through the filtration system.
- Non-Viable Particle Counting.
- Reports the amount of airborne particulate of a specified size in the clean zone. This test determines cleanliness class.
- Room Pressurization Testing.
